The expansion of human habitat resulted in encroachment in the forest areas and destabilized the environment with alarming increase in atmospheric temperature, pollution, Greenhouse gas emission,bio-diversity depletion etc. Unplanned civil construction in both urban and rural areas accelerated deforestation and environmental degradation.

To circumvent the above problems to some extent, Simoco Educational Trust has conceptualized & implemented a project at the Barasat Municipality area entitled "Establishment of Localized Oxygen Hub by developing a small-scale urban forest featured by Panchavati and butterfly garden" which primarily aimed at creation of Localized Oxygen Hub by developing a small-scale urban forest featured by Panchavati and butterfly garden to combat increasing atmospheric temperature, develop carbon sink and bio-diversity restoration.
